As part of the EAW AWARE Project, partners developed a training course for practitioners (judges, public prosecutors, lawyers, law students, monitoring organisations and other stakeholder groups), aiming at enhancing their awareness concerning the main aspects of the EAW as the cornerstone instrument in EU judicial cooperation in criminal matters. This course seeks to draw attention to sensitive issues surrounding European Arrest Warrants such as proportionality, efficiency and Human Rights, but also addresses detention conditions and the reality of EAW usage in AWARE-EAW partner countries and the EU as a whole. Finally, the course concludes with reflections on the future of the EAW, considering recent developments such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
