The Bremen Ministry of Justice coordinates EAW AWARE. Our small but proactive staff training project team brings a wide variety of mutual learning opportunities to prison and probation staff in Bremen and Bremerhaven.
On EAW AWARE, seminar structure and content is guided by judges and public prosecutors from the Bremen Regional High Court., with specific experitise in European Arrest Warrant implementation.
The constitutional role of the Romanian Superior Council of Magistracy (RSCM) is to act as guarantor of the justice independence. In this quality and according to its competences,
the Council is accountable before the other public authorities, the civil society, and any other participant to the judicial procedures, for the proper organization and operation of justice, as public service. The institution ensures the observance
of law and criteria of professional competence and ethics throughout the career of judges and prosecutors. The Council
coordinates the activity of the National Institute of Magistracy, the institution in charge with the initial training of future
magistrates - judges and prosecutors – but also the continuous training of magistrates in service.
Antigone is an Italian NGO committed to human rights in the criminal and penitentiary system. It was
established in the 1980s and focuses on research, debates, legal drafting and awareness campaigns. Antigone conducts visits to prisons in Italy and publishes a yearly report on prison conditions. Through a prison Ombudsman, Antigone
collects complaints from inmates and mediates with the administration. In 2012 Antigone created the European Prison
Observatory, supported by DG Justice. Over the last years Antigone carried out research and has been directly involved on the topic of international arrest warrant and surrender, in particular providing expertise to British courts on prison
conditions in Italy. Antigone has been proactive in promoting conditions of detention in Europe, including contributing to ERAs Improving Detention Conditions at EU Level published in June 2017, and to an open letter to the Commission on key improvements needed to EAWs in 2017.
IPS Innovative Prison Systems (IPS) is a boutique research and consulting firm specialised in the field of justice, correctional services, community sanctions and measures, juvenile justice
and law enforcement. IPS develops integrated projects, supporting change management in complex organisations, while developing programmes targeting prison staff, top management and offenders. The approach consists of three main pillars:
1. Strategic management (developing a vision for rehabilitation of offenders through education, training and work)
2. People (supporting offender rehabilitation, restorative justice, and reduction of recidivism)
3. Processes & systems (developing and implementing integrated management systems that support staff competence development in prisons).
